Parris Island romaine lettuce has flavorful, deep green leaves that grow up to 8 inches long. It is very tender and has a sweeter flavor than many other lettuce varieties. Select a garden site with full sun exposure if you live in a region with cool spring and summer temperatures. A partially shaded location is best in areas with excessive heat because the leaves develop a bitter flavor when exposed to high temperatures. Parris Island lettuce is ready to harvest approximately 75 to 85 days after the seeds are sown.
