These are so nice! A suggestion: I like your third photo best, and I think it would look the best of the three on searches. So in the future when you have a really good closeup like that (even of only one earring) I'd make it your first photo so people see it when they are browsing the listings.

One more idea for you ... your photos are really awesome, crisp and clear. I take mine with NO flash but use a small desk lamp that I can move around to play with light and shadow. Best also to use either a craft lamp with a white-light color bulb, or something like Reveal brand daylight color bulbs. I think you could get awesome impressive photos of something like this if you try that. Just take a ton of photos, moving the lamp around, and you might be surprised how professional some of them look.

Thanks so much for the tips! I will definitely take more photos so I have more to choose from in the future and keep in mind the advice about if a photo of just one earring turns out the best to use that one!! I appreciate knowing what people will look for first and what works best. I am hoping that with the recent huge interest and excellent bids on my jewelry that once I auction off all of these clothes I can't wear that need better homes I can subsist on credits on Listia just from my jewelry and other little things that don't cost too much for shipping.

I appreciate you stopping by! When I get paid I'll look into a little craft lamp (it would help when making the actual jewelry too!) and the kind of bulb you suggested to get the most out of my listings and work!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

Any sort of small desk lamp works too, something small enough to move around with one hand while you take photos with the other. Just get a "white" color bulb for it ... most household light bulbs are a warm, yellowish color and that yellow really shows up in your photos. The white or daylight color is very cold color, so most people don't use them in home lamps.

The craft lamps can be expensive but I've gotten them for about $20 at places like big lots, and I'm sure you can find them online inexpensively. Some are flip-down, some are goose-neck. You might be able to find a small gooseneck lamp in a thrift shop, I supposed--in stores like Target you can probably buy those for less than $20.

The craft lamps (Ott Light is the "good" brand, but you'll find a lot of similar lamps) have a long, tube style compact fluorescent bulb in them that lasts forever.

Thanks, my dear! It's something to put on my list for when I get paid next! I always wondered how you consistently have such amazing photos of your beading supplies, especially the Swarovskis -- they are difficult to photograph!!

With a lot of experimenting I have found that no matter what I am taking photos of jewelry wise or supplies (which I used to sell on etsy.com quite a bit) that a white background seems to work the best so it only makes sense that a white, cold light bulb would magnify that and make everything look that much better and detailed and able to capture even the tiniest little sparkle or facet.

I have absolutely no problem spending $20.00 or so, despite having a fixed, low income, if it's going to enhance my auctions when I have something up for bids that I created myself and thoroughly enjoy doing.

Thanks for putting all of your tips on one auction! I can keep track of them much better and in the meantime before I get paid I can use what tips you've given me that will work the best, but if I don't get excellent photos of jewelry I know that about $20.00 in the near future will remedy that with no problem.

Thanks so much again!
