Welcome to the Listia Collective of Generous Souls. You have, indeed, come to the right place. You will find many supportive folks here.... many parents and many grandparents. It is a wonderful diversion from the struggles of the day. I have two sons with mental health challenges. My brother is bipolar, my dad has had bouts with depression.... The statistic now is that somewhere around 1 in 4 Americans with have to deal with some mental health trauma in their lifetime (either their own or that of a relative/loved one). One would think that it being such a common challenge, Americans would not buy into the Bedlam mentality of judging MH disorders differently than other chronic medical problems......such as diabetes, gout, or PMS. NAMI is a wonderful organization for educating and advocating for those of us with mental illness and for those who support others in their struggles with it.

Curiously enough, my son and I are bipolar as well..... as is his exwife, and my brother. I am keeping a stern eye on my granddaughters.
