Description

The listing, Cityscape Embossing Folder has ended.

This embossing folder I have nicknamed "Cityscape Embossing Folder" This is a folder by Darice. It measures 5 3/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches. This folder is so versatile, it can be used for either gender and for many age groups!

This folder can be used for scrapbooking, embellishing, card making, or more. It can help add texture and style to your paper and cardstock projects. These folders fit most embossing machines. It works best with heavy weight cardstock. Google Tim Holtz for a "how to" site. It's linked to many you-tube videos. Tim Holtz also sells a sander (which I do not include in the auction) which can make the embossing "pop." Anna Griffin likes to take embossing folders and use a brayer and washable metallic ink to ink the folder. She then inserts a piece of paper then runs it through the embosser. She also has used just an ink pad to dab the image that's embossed. Plus, she also lightly sands the embossed image. This should work in most popular embossing machines.

I like that one! I wish I had a die cutter so I could use these.

If you have an embossing machine, many embossing machines just need some metal shim (sheet metal) and or a plastic insert to help convert them into a die cut machine for the thin die cuts only. However, this particular item is not a die cut. It's an embossing folder which I use most of the time. The materials pay for themselves over time because you use them repeatedly. Thanks for looking!

I didn't know there was an embossing machine. Sadly, I have neither.

Embossing machines which are easier to break start about $20. Those are the green kind you see in craft stores. I suggest you do an internet search to see how much a Sizzix Big Shot machine is or an Anna Griffin cuttlebug machine. I paid mine off in payments and found it worth every penny!

Is there a certain way you use a Sissiz with these?

Yes, if it's the Sizzix big shot. I have an original Sizzix that I use for die cuts. But, for that one you put the paper down, put the die cut down ontop of a platform and take the handle and mash it down as you push it through. The embossing folders are too wide to go through that particular machine unless it's a border which I do sell that's skinny (about 1 1/2 inches thick). You can make those work with extra platforms or metal shims cut to fit. Otherwise, the machine is too high. Of course, you can also use the Vagabond machine on these too. I usually use my cricut or Big Shot for the embossing folders. You can buy some of the cheaper cricut machines by provocraft for less than you'd pay for all the shims and platforms, etc. You can also use a rolling pin if it's heavy or a bottle of wine (without the grooves) but it needs to be full. Just roll it across and it'll emboss!
