Description

The listing, VINTAGEGorgeous!! Unique!! Dove???? earrings!! has ended.

I cannot quite describe these beautiful earrings, because I am not quite even sure sure what exactly they are. They were from my Grandmother's estate.. So they are definitely vintage, possibly antique. I have no idea though. There are no markings, as far as I can see, so I cannot even tell if they are good.,. Plated, or what..? Onyx? Enamel? I am anything but the jewelry expert, so I will not even pretend. I know a thing or two when it comes to Silver, and some Native American type jewelry.. But this kinda thing- I have no clue!
But they are remarkably unique and stunning!!!!

And.... That's all I got on this one ;)

Any questions, I'll do my best to answer-

No buyers remorse nor refunds. Whatcha see n read is what you will get, so please ask if you are not sure

I only can ship to the US at this time, free shipping , with tracking provided-

Be nice it be gone-

Thank ya, n happy bidding!!

Here is some info on the earrings you have listed: Did your Grandmother ever go to spain, or did someone she knew go to Spain, specifically Toledo? As jewelry like this is hand made there. Here is the info I found for you: Damascene or "Damasquino" is the art of decorating non-precious metals with gold. It has roots in the Middle Ages and originates from the oriental-style artisan work done in Damascus, Syria. The craft has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. Damascene jewelry items generally reflect two distinct patterns; the "Arabesque" or geometric designs, and "Renaissance" motifs, displaying variations of birds and flowers. These patterns are obtained by engraving deep, patterned cuts into steel and then placing a gold foil into the lines of the design. This foil is hammered until the gold (or silver) penetrates into the cuts forming the design. Each piece is treated with a solution to obtain oxidation and a black background is created. Toledo, Spain is the world's largest center of production of Damascene or "Damasquino" jewelry and gift items.

Wow!! Very very cool- and interesting to know!! I do appreciate you taking the time to put all that down for me:)
My Grandparents did travel a lot. I'm not particularly sure if they ever went to Spain or not. My Grandfather was a Captain in the Navy- so he may of even, but he's been passed since I was 4. I will have to ask my Dad sometime today. I do have a several other pieces of jewelry that were hers as well, but the only ones that have markings, are stamped Italy (which I know they did travel to) and Czech..
Thank you so much for that info, again! I will definitely have to ask my dad- and update you if I learn anything else :)
Good luck!!!

Absolutely!!!!❤❤❤
Thank you for appreciating them!!!
My dad was unsure, when I asked him if my grandparents had ever traveled to Spain.,
My great uncle also owned an antique store, up until His passing.... So I grew up appreciating all sorts of amazing things, such as unique jewelry! Very glad you had the detail to share with me!! :)

While similar to Damascene I believe these are actually Niello. Niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead sulphides, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal.

Of course without having it our hands it's hard to say but here is a page that describes both processes and can probably help you decide which one it in reality is. Lovely item and auction!

I did go to the website, thank you for providing it! I still am not sure though... its really hard to tell, being such small pieces.. at least for myself, on whether they would be i guess an oxidized metal, or enamel.. at least this is what i gather was the main difference between the two???
Either way... thank you so much for all the info!!! I do hope to find out from one of you all either way :-)
