Yes you are correct and if this was SOLID BLACK I would have listed it as Black Onyx or Black Agate, or Black Tourmaline, and the list of black stones goes on and on.... but high grade Amethyst is VERY dark because it has no Clear Quartz in it which is what causes the lighter colors and while Clear Quartz is a Mighty Powerful healing stone when it comes to Semi-Precious Stone it is actually the most common crystal on the planet and makes it worth less from a financial point of view. Some of the most Amazingly expensive Amethyst is almost Black it it so dark, like the darkest purple you can imagine. If you look through ALL 25 pics towards the middle of them you will see where I took pics with the light shining through and you can see that is ACTUALLY PURPLE but just like we all think the Ocean is blue but at the bottom of the Ocean it is all Black from Lack of light. I hope that helps explains this unique piece to you. I truly believe that life does not end when a doc declares it. I believe that if you feel, see, hear your father then you do. As long as you love him a part of his Spirit is still here. My son is watched over by my Mother in Law who passed on to young but I swear sometimes I see her when he is playing outside. NEVER EVER worry about rambling. Amethyst and Snowflake Obsidian are excellent stones for any one who is grieving a Loved one. One of the basics of Science is that you can NOT destroy energy only transform it.
