Is this one of the bush type, or is it more tree-like?

Mine get anywhere from 4 to 6 foot tall depending on how happy they are. How much sun/and fertilizer they get. In my zone 8b they do not like all day sun. They do better in morning and early afternoon sun but not the hot all day sun.

I had a yellow one last year but didn't want to bring it inside for winter so I left it outside in a pot and it still hasn't returned

I live in zone 8b the white, pink and peach come back for me. This year I have 1 yellow that is just now showing signs of coming back. I usually restart the yellow and purple each year from seed enless I keep some in pots and those I keep in a hot house for the winter.

I took it out of the pot and planted it in the ground so hopefully it comes back, thank you for replying.

I don't think it even had seeds and if it did I wouldn't have known since I'm not sure as to how to get them. I did though save a cutting which I just took inside during the winter and just recently gave it to my sister in law so once it grows I could always ask her for a cutting.

I am sorry the pink, white and peach rarely have seeds you have to start with a cutting. The purple and yellow produce lots of seeds. maybe if the cutting gets about 8 inches then that would be enough to cut it in half to start another plant. you can start it in water or in the ground.

In the ground but you can do either. The pink, white and peach come back each year. My zone is 8b
