Questions & Comments
Canon make great cameras, and this particular model is no exception. Since it is 7 mp, I can tell you folks, that it is only a few years old. It has only been a couple years since point and shoot cameras reached 10 mp for under $250. There are plenty of manufacturers out there now, from all over the world, but their's are knockoffs and cannot match the quality of a Canon. Software is downloadable at the canon homepage, but if you have photo enhancing software, like Adobe Photoshop Elements, you shouldn't need it. It takes regular SD cards (Black Friday sales have them unbeliveably cheap) and as, Magnolia1 said, it takes just 2 AA batteries. Those you can get at radio shack for cheap or Costco, Chargers are there, too, but Ebay has compatible and inexpensive chargers which come with rechargable batteries. On average, these cameras (used), go for between $25 and $45 on Ebay. However, that often does not include shipping. Magnolia1 is offering FREE SHIPPING!. This would be a great camera to keep in your pocketbook or glovebox to make up for those frequent and unexpected times that you have been kicking yourself in the butt and saying, "I wish I had my camera!" Best of luck, Maggie, but since I have a point and shoot, I won't be bidding. I am holding out for a Canon Rebel DSLR.
Thank you for the wonderful input,it is a very nice camera, also does video and good video at that...I really appreciate you posting a kind rave for me...will fan you, also I plan to offer free shipping on every auction I post, being as I usually bid on the free shipping auctions...
I have used it on my laptop and never had software but if for some strange reason you do you could get it online,on one of other comments someone left, they also state that it is compatible with software than what it comes with,I always used it with the HP that was always on my computer.
I have two Cannon A590IS's and they're awesome. A couple minor flaws that I guess happen with some models, but easy to fix. I have one that I use for parts, and one that I keep in top condition. Ive had mine for 3 years this Christmas and it works awesome, I love Canon cameras. I like Nikon too, but if I had to choose, I would take a Canon any day.
You don't need any software to use it, only if you want the software for your computer (and personally I like HP Photosmart a lot better). Really, this is a GREAT camera particularly for Listia photos of tiny things ... these little Canon cameras take better closeups than many far more expensive cameras. THIS is the model you want, the ones made more recently aren't as good for taking photos of small items like jewelry for Listia.
Trust me, I own about a half dozen of them ... I buy them whenever I find them cheap to be sure I've always got them for me, my kids, my husband if he needs one. This is my TOP choice camera, always.
hummmm we went to the Cannon website and tried to download for this particular camera and it said we needed the original Cd that came with the camera..soo...
I have been using it for the last few yr up until I got a phone with 8 mp and have never had the cd,it loads pics to my laptop no problem w/o the cd,and loads videos,I can post some pics I have taken with it if you would like.
It has a cord to go to pc but not a charger, you can buy a battery charger and batteries at Walmart for ten bucks,I had one but the kids stole it for video games.
I updated my listing and hopefully answered any questions,i did forget to pit that there is not a manual with it but I am pretty tech challenged and I had no problems figuring ot put,so I am fairly safe in saying it is very easy to figure out...I hope whomever wins it uses it,it would also be a very nice.gift.
It has a cord to connect to pc but not a charger,I bought a charger and batteries at wal-mart for ten bucks but my kids stole ot for video games but with even regular batteries the life is good.
Sorry no charger,it takes 2 double A batteries,I think I may have said 4on add, anyway I just bought a 4pk+charger of the rechargeables from Walmart for ten bucks,my kids have since stolen all of them for video game controllers, but even with regular batteries the life is good...
