The listing, Canada Olympic Silver $5 Coin has ended.

Up for auction is a $5 coin from Canada commemorating the 1976 Summer Olympic Games hosted by Montreal, Canada. The coin is composed of sterling silver (.925) and has a weight of 24.3g for a total silver weight of .723 Troy ounces.

This coin is part of the second series which depicts Olympic Motifs. This design depicts an athlete with a torch which is a symbol of the constant rebirth of the Olympics. Coin is dated 1974.

The reverse design is an illustration of an early Queen Elizabeth II.

Coin pictured is the one you will receive. Please look over the pictures. Mark to the left of the queens head.

Very nice! I've always loved this set. A few months ago, I finished putting together the entire 28-coin set.

This is not something generally found on Listia, so I hope it does very well for you.

One of my favorite Olympic sets and I think a little more special since the time they were minted due to a lot of them being melted after for the silver...I was nervous about starting it at 499, I think the current start was pretty fair...I appreciate the words of encouragement :)

It's more than fair. I see you have another one up and someone has already bid on it. They (should) go well beyond the starting bid.

And you're right, a lot of sets were made, but the sterling blanks the RCM used were so high quality that a lot of them have been melted to make jewelry.
