My little brother is Autistic and he was one of the first to graduate high school in the parish with a regular diploma. It took him a little longer to do it (he was 20 when he did it) my dad and I cried the entire ceremony, they all told us hed be lucky to be able to tie his shoes and there he was in cap and gown.
What a wonderful auction!! Hope you will do more like this! I am a 44 year old adult with Aspergers (just got diagnosed last year in November), and I also have sensory issues. It's a hard thing to live with, but I get by. My boyfriend is the biggest support, as are my kids (2 of my boys have Autism, one severe). They love me and accept me for all my little "quirks"..fanned and watching!
So good to hear happy stories even with the challenge of autism involved! Hope you and your family continue to thrive and be there for each other... Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for bringing awareness to Autism :) I'm a RN and do respite care & home care for children and young adults with developmental disabilities. Basically I take them out to do fun things, help them with their homework, and give their primary caregiver (unfortunately, it's usually single moms) a break so they can get their errands done or just relax. I currently have 3 clients 2 are young ladies (11 & 26) with autism. I LOVE my job :)
Thanks to you for your service to the community.. Wanna come by here?? lol I could use a break, not sure if they do anything that awesome in Tennessee... Brightest Blessings!!

my daughter, Katie, works with autistic children. She told me last week the best day of her career occurred in October this year. One of her students, who rarely speaks or communicates at all, saw her and shouted Keee Keee Keeee! She has never once regretted her career choice.
