This was released in 2014 exclusively through game stop. They can be used with any skylanders game. But the extra powers only work with trap team version.

I just won skylanders giants for the 3ds, but it will be used on a 2ds, will this character work with that one?

From what I understand this will work with the giants game on a 2DS. However the special features such as the 3x power will only work on a 2DS with the "trap team" game installed.
