First Edition, first printing. The author's last novel published while he was still grappling with his addictions, it remained on the top of The New York Times best-seller list for five weeks.

DESCRIPTION: Black paper boards with the initials "SK" in gilt on the front, black cloth spine with gilt lettering, purple endpapers, pictorial dust jacket with price of $21.95, author's photo on back, jacket design by Neil Stuart, jacket illustration by Geoffrey Gove.

CONDITION: Book is very good + with a square, solid text block and strong hinges, and entirely free of prior owner markings; light rubbing and fading to the extremities, page edges are lightly age-toned. Unclipped dust jacket shows minimal edgewear along the top.

CITATION: Firsts Magazine Oct. 11, number 27. All first issue points present, "First published in 1989..." with the full number line (1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2) on copyright page, $21.95 price on jacket.
