Up for consideration is a pair of lovely earrings made from what appears to be antique walrus ivory. The squares have been carved and etched and reveal a darker layer underneath which is indicative of walrus ivory. It's also possible they are made from bone. They are definitely NOT any type of plastic including celluloid. It looks like someone took the etched ivory squares and glued earring posts on them and then added the stones to make a pair of earrings. They are certainly nice as is, but it might be possible to remove the backs and then use the squares for something else--they are really quite beautiful. The ivory is 1" square, and the total length is 2 3/8".
