I have a grandson this would be perfect for. He's just 4, but already loves science thanks to Sid the Science Kid lol.
Thanks for another great listing and wish me luck....

Your grandson is lucky to have you as a grandmother! My kids loved these and spent hours exploring them.

Are these actual fossils, or replicas of ones?

I believe they're actual fossils. There's nothing on the box that says that they are or aren't. We bought the set years ago at the Nature Company. It's a store chain that got purchased by Discover Channel several years ago. It was a reputable science store.

Do you see RHGuard bidding against me...that's my daughter....lol. This proves two things...First, we both think it's a great gift for my grandson, second, we don't communicate very well....lol. Both of us spend most of our time searching for get items for him and I don't know why we can't remember to check the bid history and make sure the other one isn't bidding on it.

LOL That is too funny! I thank both of you for increasing the bid! These are actual fossils. I found another of the same set (not surprising - our 2 sons are 16 months apart) and in comparing them they do vary slightly. i.e. the shark's tooth in one is larger than in the other. Also I am very thankful for finding the other set, as I dropped the first set and it opened up spilling all the pieces. I was planning on spending a lot of time on the internet looking up each fossil so I would know where each piece should go in the box.

LOL Great minds think a like! I've had the pleasure of being both a seller and a buyer for your mom and she was terrific to work with!

LOL These are identical, but I would not be surprised if I find a different set. We were very much into science as a family. I think I had more fun than the kids when we got something new.
