The 8 year old William Blake saw a tree full of Angels. Few of us have been blessed with similar visions, but we all have some idea what Angels look like, haloed, winged, clad in flowing robes, and eternally young. Generations of artists have helped create this popular image and shown us Angels in action as divine messengers, spiritual guides or heavenly musicians. Whether they are portrayed as remote, ethereal beings, beautiful youths or fat little cherubs, Angels have always appealed to the imagination and that part of us which is in touch with the more sublime planes of existence.
