The listing, VINTAGE LADIES HANDKERCHIEF has ended.
I received this in 1977 and was told it was 20 years old then, so it is at least 50 years old. Done with the lost art of tatting. The story behind this is an interesting one. While I was in high school there was an old man that walked around our small town handing out candy. He was, of coarse, called the Candy Man. Every time he would see a kid he would reach in his pocket and pull out a piece of wrapped candy. I don't know of anyone that ate the candy, but, instead of hurting this lonely mans feelings we would put the candy in out pocket and get rid of it later. He saw me one day and gave me this very special gift. I offer it to someone else now. I've had it in storage for so long I almost forgot about it. It is a shame to keep it in storage. If the bids go high enough on this auction, I also have a tatting needle I will include that was my grandmothers. This needle is at least 50 years old and still usable!!! Another item I've kept in storage. The second photo shows a small hole, the only flaw in this I can find.. I've attempted tatting but it seemed like I needed more fingers to do the job than I had. Not sure how anyone can do this gorgeous needlework, but I commend you and envy you. It is a beautiful needlecraft.....
