Description

The listing, Anemonopsis macrophylla Seed has ended.

This plant is so beautiful and easy to grow! the flowers resemble Columbine on long airy stems. The foliage is finely cut and the dark wiry stems grow up to 3' tall. Flowering time is from mid to late summer. Sow the seed in pots as soon as you can and leave the pot outdoors for the winter as the seed need cold to germinate. Plants want moist, rich soil in part to full shade.

I googled the toxicity of this and couldn't find anything about it. Shanny...where did you find that info? I would be interested in knowing more.

So I read through the description of Ranunculaceae and the toxicity of members of this group of plants. It does not mention Anemonopsis specifically nor does it tell you mow much of a plant needs to be ingested before it becomes poisonous. Most plants that were thought to be highly poisonous are now found to be mildly poisonous and large quantities would need to be eaten before you got sick or had a reaction. so hopefully Anemonopsis is one of them. I also think that most children don't usually go out and graze on garden plants and if they're young enough for that to be a risk I would hope that their parents are keeping a close watch on them.

Thanks! This is an extremely beautiful woodland perennial. It loves rich, moist soil, but will also grow well in drier soils. Mine are planted under giant white pines where the soil is pretty dry all the time.
Good luck with the bidding!
