Sorry, Listia Amir, a moderator, deleted my previous auction when I asked Listia to remove the 2nd bidders bid, so the 2nd bidder could do a GIN that I had already set up for her and so for my request, AMIR deleted BOTH of my auctions! Just nuts.

SO, this auction is for regular bidding .

For crying out loud, I'm just trying to give away FREE Bibles! with FREE POSTAGE!

I'm from Iowa & it is very hard to find a good church. I live in a trailer court with churches surrounding it but none were a fit. My new church is fabulous & I am very happy to have finally found a spiritual home.

That's true but when we are all taking turns reading & following along together, it's just easier but I'm still a closet KJV fan because my very first bible presented to me at bible school at 6 years old was. ;]

I was 5 years when I received Jesus into my heart. I NEVER forgot it. I was always a goodly child, and could count only 2 bad things on 1 hand, until I hit the "hormone" teenage years! It was like having a disease, one which is 44 yrs old now and she's in been jail twice. sad:(

I always felt the Lord with me, and near me, always, even when I did bad, I pretended not to "know" him, knowing all the time I was his, does that make sense to you?

I gave my life to him in 1968, backslide for 4 years though, because hubby moved me up north, I'm from the south and boy were the people's ways very diffirent up there, no mentors, no good churches to be found, no one cared (don't get involved was everyone's motto), etc. BUT, in aug 1974 I said enough, and repented and grounded myself in him, etc, and have never looked back. :)

When I go to Bible Study & we are taking turns reading aloud & following along, it's just easier if we all have the same translation. That's why I bought the first one but in private on my own, i often read from my KJV just because that's what I grew upon & I love the language.

Same here. But I often read from my KJV in groups because I love the flavor of it and its from that one that I know the scriptures. Remember, just because "they" all use the NIV, doesnt mean "I' have to conform. Its just their preference. :)

I have a beautiful KJV but my church uses this version. Thanks though.

not a problem. My church uses the NIV but we are free to use whichever translation we prefer, so I actually use both, though I still use my KJV the most.

I'm still bidding! I love the King James version but most churches have gone with this version now because it is more understandable to all. It's beautiful but say where King James would refer to a unicorn, this one would say wild ox. Still a wonderful & beautiful book.

NIV

New International Version

Original
Please explain what this "new international version" means. Do they still speak traditionally or is it more modern? Thanks.
+1

Original
It definitely means more "modern" as you say.

Meaning: the "thee" and "thou" are replaced with modern words like, you and yours and ours and theirs, and verses are more "clearly" written in everyday language, attempting to keep the meaning of the original verses from say, the King James Version, more true to their original meaning but in modern everyday english. Hope that helps? sally
