Actually, no. Nigella are pretty tolerant and don't really need any special care. They'll do well in full sun or part shade, average to little water, and a wide variety of soils. The one small fault that one could possibly find is that they don't transplant well (they have a very long taproot); they should be direct seeded in the area that they're to grow in. : )
