Description

The listing, Fossil Horse Tooth from South Carolina has ended.

This fossil horse tooth is from a hypsodont horse that once galloped over grassy plains in what is now South Carolina on the American east coast during Miocene times (25 to 5 million years ago).

Hypsodont teeth grow continuously for several years, as the horse grazes on tough grasses that wear its teeth down. As a consequence, they can be a record of environmental conditions over the course of their existence, much like tree rings.

This specimen measures 2" long by 1" wide.

So cool... Would you consider international shipping? I have a Paypal account.

sure. Let me know where and because this isn't heavy, I could probably do it free as well.

This is not one I found unfortunately. I purchased this at my paleontology club annual auction. I'm downsizing now. I find a lot of teeth in Texas, but mostly mosasaurus. I know I didn't spell that right.

Great news about the shipping! I'm in Portugal, and standard airmail between here and the US has proved pretty reliable so far. Only thing is that at this time of year it may take a little longer, but that's not a problem.

Since it doesn't weigh much do you know if they allow international first class? Check on that for me. I use that for other countries and no problem.

Yes, that's fine! I forgot you have two options, lol, as that's the only one we have from here to the US.

Shatoma, given the popularity of this auction, I hope you're considering listing some of your local mesasaurus teeth... ;))

Actually I have some ammonites and a mammoth tooth I might put on. I have quite a bit of stuff. Thinking about a mix of fossils, so maybe next week before Christmas I'll put some one. The fossil mammoth tooth would be by itself.
