Description

The listing, 5 qty French Pussywillow rooted cuttings has ended.

I have here rooted cuttings from my French pussywillow tree. French pussiwillow are vigorous growers, topping at 30-40 feet high and 10-15 feet across. The branches start low to the ground so it looks like a shrub at first but don't be fooled. It will be a real tree within a few years which provides tons of shade. And don't assume because the rooted cutting is little that it will take decades for it to be a tree. I started one tree from a branch 5 years ago and it was taller than me in three years and is now way over my head and that was with me clipping it continually to try to maintain it as a small shrub—BTW, it can't be done. It wants to be a tree and it will be a tree.

I will send 5 cuttings, only the rooted part even though it is already a good size—about 4 feet high and as wide-- because shipping would be too expensive. If you are willing to pick them up yourself, you can have the entire plant and as many as you want. I literally have more than I can handle.

All auctioned plants and seeds are from my own garden and I can attest that they are viable, at least in similar situations. I can NOT guarantee that they will grow in the tropics, in desert regions nor in the tundra. Please be sensible and bid accordingly.

As always, from smoke free home and pet free.

**All Listia rules apply. Verified email address required for every single transaction—That means if you win several of my auctions I need an address for each item won. As soon as address is supplied, I will ship out the next business day if possible. I do combine shipments when possible.

Please think and be quite certain you want this item before you bid. I can’t ignore bids once they are posted. If you win, regardless of buyer’s remorse, I’ll re-list the item and keep your credits.

I am interested in the cuttings as they are easier to handle. If I don't win this auction, could you put another one up and notify me? I'd really appreciate it!

Do you not have a shorter one? I cannot believe you took such a TREE to the PO!! My regular clerk would probably have dropped to the floor laughing, although he is used to me and not too surprised at anything I do!! But a TREE?????? Anyway, I will start chasing the credits up. Think I know how to help otherwise, also. Still will be willing to pay postage, but $15 is a little high for me, even for a TREE!!!!! We will see what we can do, and thanks for giving your postal clerk a good laugh; wish I had been there, or even better had MY clerk been there so I could tell him I am not the only NUT loose to arrive in a post office!!!!!!

I would have to clip off about a foot at the tippy top, but it is doable and you would have a good size starter "shrub" well branched and ready to grow, but I doubt it would be much less than $12-$15. best I can do for that size plant, hence why I offer just the roots!

If you send only the roots, will the tree grow into a "good" tree? I have had some young trees cut off the roots, and when they come back, they are like a limb on a stub and therefore would not be a substantial tree. By any chance do you have smaller ones that you could ship if we pay shipping? I have had 3-4' plants shipped by nurseries, but they have appropriate boxes and I don't remember what the postage amounts were. Just a thought. I would rather pay a reasonable amount of postage and get plants that might turn out better. Anyway, tell me about the possibility of the roots growing into good trees; maybe that will be best.

All I can say is I cannot kill these things, they are so hardy and they grow back so fast that even if I cut them back they grow back double. I tell you what, I will go to the post office with a full size tree and see what the postage will be. I'll let you know what it is.

I hope you meant you would go to the post office with a nice size rooted cutting, not a "full size" tree since you say they can be 30-40 feet tall!!!!! I can just see my mailman delivering one of those!!!!!! Seriously, I appreciate you finding out as I just might be able to afford one, postage wise. Thanks.

Well, The Post office guy, Tony, sure looked at me oddly when I walked in with a rooted tree cutting--it was nearly as tall as me-- stuffed into a tube. The top foot of the tree was sticking out. After he stopped laughing he figured it would likely be about $15 to mail it out, in the Worse case scenario. If that's okay with you, I'll send that to you if I get enough credits, but it is not looking good. 53 credits is NOT going to cut it.
