The listing, Vintage Carved Primitive Hand Made Wood Box has ended.

This is a sweet little box.
Handmade and carved, made of some kind of hard wood
Has a bit of white inlay on the top
Measures 6" x 4" x 2 1/4"
This box opens and closes perfectly but, if you look carefully across the back, you can see that it appears to be uneven. If you don't like it, could probably be fixed but I think it only adds to the charm. It really doesn't show much unless you know it is there. Can't see it from the inside.
Has some very tiny nails on the bottom but I don't see any, anywhere else!

This box is made of camphor wood and it was made in India. I have some like it.

I too have a few like it. I put my dogs ashes in them. I have 4 dogs ashes and I only need one more of these boxes to put the last dogs ashes in. I would like to have them all in the same boxes. So I hope to win it.

Gorgeous!! This is actually Sheesham wood which is also from India..It is a hard wood like camphor but the pattern & "burl" are different. I know this as I have both Sheesham & camphor that was purchased in India and gifted to me many years ago when I was living in California so I have both to compare to. Camphor & Sheesham are VERY valuable & collectable..Very little camphor was imported to US & the Sheesaham came to US in jewelry boxes like this..If you google both you will see the difference but they do look similar. Also camphor will have the "spicey" smell when wet even after all these years especially inside..Sheesham does not which is another identification maker..Good luck as winner will LOVE this beauty :))

Is there brackets on the back that allows it to open and close?

There are no outside brackets as you can see in the pics but it does open and close..all of the hardware, if there is any, is hidden in the wood, on each corner.
