By law, gift cards don't expire now. But, yes I do see that on the receipt. That is strange. I will look into that. I have some Target gift cards myself. One time I had a problem with a gift card in that it said there was no balance on it. There really was. Target enabled the card. It was bought 10 years ago; that's why it was disabled. The supervisor I spoke with there said the gift cards never expire. I used the gift card up after.

I looked at the back of the cards and at the lower right corner it says, "no expiration". I think what happened was the computer system (that give purchase receipts) at the target you got it at didn't update to show the new law of no expiration dates on gift cards. Anyway, they'll catch it eventually. And, nice auction! Watching/bidding.
