If you get a "sorry you've been outbid" message immediately after bidding, it just means that someone's already bid higher than what you're currently bidding. For example, if you bid say, 500, 600, 700, etc., but keep getting that outbid message, someone else may have already bid 1,000 or 2000 or 5,000, etc. Whoever you are getting outbid by they may have placed that bid hours or even days ago, and they won't get outbid until you go over that amount, and you won't know what that bid was until you go over it.
