its a rewards card i think..... they send me cards for my birthday every year.

No. Its a $10 gift card! They send it to credit card holders for a birthday gift. The only difference between this and a purchased gift card is this is one time use. So, you can't buy a $5 item and have a $5 balance. You have to use it all at once or no cash back.
I love it!! I used mine this month already. But I could use this with my secret reward cards that are on the way to me :-)
