The listing, (4) VINTAGE Family Circle PATTERNS Swedish Darning / HARDANGER / Crewel EMBROIDERY has ended.
Up for bid are four vintage patterns that I ordered from Family Circle back in the late 60s. My mom made beautiful tea towels using the Swedish Darning, and pillows using the Hardanger.
Even though the patterns are suggested for pillows, I imagine they can be used on other items.
Hardanger is a form of embroidery traditionally worked with white thread on white even-weave cloth, using counted thread and drawn thread work techniques. As you can see, this pattern used red!
Swedish Darning (or Huck or Swedish weaving) is basically patterns worked on huck fabric.
The crewel is a pattern you trace onto your fabric with tracing paper (dressmaker's carbon). The design area would be 10-1/2" when completed.
The other three patterns have large diagrams on the inside of the leaflet showing how to stitch.
These have been packed away, and I hope someone who might be interested in doing this kind of craft might be able to use them!
All four patterns for one bid. Smoke-free home. No GIN.
They will be shipped in a large first class envelope which carries no tracking, so please be sure you are in agreement with that method of shipping before you bid.
