UPGRADE on information - French Guyana in South America issued these coins between 1780 and 1790 . There are several varieties in pattern , especially the shape of the crown , and other mysterious aspects of these coins . Originals are minted in billon , a low-grade silver alloy . Apparently forgeries were made in the UK during the latter 1700s of Brass ( Krause says "coins with curved base crown are contemporary forgeries, mostly brass and originating in Birmingham." ) , and these forgeries are worth less than billon issues . Also , the catalogs list a silver issue dated 1789.. / M .

I'm not sure what it's made of, but I read even the brass remakes are worth 10 to 20
