i bid large amounts and within a second later i get outbid? how is this possible?

It does that because the high bidder has bid more than what is showing, and until you outbid them, you will continue to get that message... Lets say the bids only show 116, and the bid box says you have to bid at least 117... well, the high bidder may have bid 500 as the max they want to spend on this, but the bids will continue to go up by increments set up by Listia, so until you bid more than the high bidder is willing to spend, you will always be outbid. I hope that makes sense...
