It is actually 2 rings connected so if a wedding ring were to be added, it may be too much on her finger. It is 18k gold plated so would last quite awhile but probably not for a lifetime. To be honest with you if I were to buy an engagement ring on a budget, I would go for sterling silver (not plated) and CZ's. Good luck hun and Merry Christmas!
