The credit value is now 16,800. It's ridiculous.

When I started it was about 4,400 = $1. I wonder how they calculate the value. My points do not line up with what my $ spent and not to mention shipping. And I do agree!!

If you are able to sell credits, you can control the value. If I want to sell my credits fast, I can sell them at a low price. If I do that, it's great for the folks buying my credits, but it lowers the value of the credits themselves. If sellers refused to sell their credits so cheaply and were patient, the credit value would rise. Listia really messed up when the started allowing credit sales. When I started, 1000= $1.00 I have lost so much money on here that I have considered leaving. I feel like I have been robbed.

I am not yet allowed to sell my credit. I have also lost money. I have gained some too. I have saved enough points to get a professional Nikon!! I am saving for a professional Canon. I have considered leaving too, but I have also checked out sites like Listia...UUGGHH!! I think the point value is WAY OFF, but I like the excitement of bidding and winning that "thing" you wanted!! So, I plan to stick around for a while. Hey!! Happy thought!! If all of us are feeling that way, maybe the point value will go down!!

I hope that you both stick around...
I've met so many nice people on here. I think it's a great way to get things that I normally wouldn't be able to. I also greatly agree that the credits to dollar rate is insane! People feel like they are spending "Big Money" when they bid 50,000 but really it's just a few dollars. I am going to do what I can to continue with free shipping. I think that's part of the fun with getting something for free. I have fun on here and I do what I can to ensure that all I interact with also enjoy it. :) It's cheaper than therapy but not quite as good as a margarita. lol

What is 499 value now? A nickel? Actually, it's less than a nickel I think.

Today, 16,900 equals $1. Therefore 499 ÷ 16,900 = 0.0295266272. So, 499 starting points equals less than $0.03. That stinks big time!! =O (

Our point value has gone way down, and our postal rates have gone way up. It's really hard on the new people too, they don't realize it takes a lot more than a stamp to mail things off now a days. Also, 15 credits for paid postage? What a joke! That might cover the package....might. But I too, am going to stick around a while longer. The people here are great and it is fun. And you can win, in one part of the country, something you wouldn't be able to get unless you were in another part of the country. That's really fun for me. I can only hope that Listia will come around before they lose their most prized clients... :)

I hear ya!! I have found and won some of the coolest stuff!! The points are most definitely not calculated correctly for the $ value, but...I like getting to talk to people from places I have never seen!! I sent a package to Hawaii and won some Christmas charms from a lady in Germany!! It's almost like having a pen pal!! I guess that is why I keep using Listia!! The first thing I ever wondered on here was a moose ring!! (I collect anything moose!! And they are so hard to find down South!!) I was so excited my belly had butterflies!! It's very,...addicting!! I hope Listia comes around too!! It's great to get new people to join and have fun teaching them the tricks we know, but I just don't get how the calculate those darn points!! I feel as if I need to make an announcement..."ATTENTION: This item cost $x. The shipping of this item costs me $x." Maybe that would help them calculate better!! =O)

It's climbing really fast! It was 15,800 last week and its increasing by the day... Yet, if we start the auction with anything over 499, we have to pay to list.

Momma would call that "spit in the bucket!"

I think they need to increase the starting credits. If the value of the points go up, should we not to be able to ask a better starting price? For example,...if the point value is 18,000 for $1, at least let us start the bids at 9,000.

I got the calculator out after I signed off and yes... 3¢ that won't even help you buy "penny candy". Now there's a phrase that younger generations won't know.

Yep!! It is ridiculous!! I vaguely remember "penny candy", but it was more like 3 cents and went to 5 cents. I vaguely remember plain M&Ms (my favorite candy) being 25 cents. But I am only 38. Everybody tells me I am too young.

I'm 53 as of today and I do remember penny candy. I also remember the 5 & dime store having licorice whips in a tall glass jar... and there were purple ones! Black Jack gum was popular as was a cinnamon flavored gum, but I can't remember its name. For a quarter I could go to the neighborhood store and get a bunch of candy. I also remember going to McDonald's with my parents and I could get a burger, fries and drink with $1 and get change back. Egads!! I feel like I'm from a different planet lol.
