Sensitive Partridge Pea plant (Chamaecrista fasciculata)

The "Tickle Me Plant" (or "Sensitive Plant") has compound leaves composed of 8-15 tiny leaftlets that fold inward when you brush them with your finger. They also close completely at night to "sleep". Fun to play with - tickle them and they close up!

When it flowers late summer, the yellow blooms are simliar to sundrops. They also produce long, flat seed pods that resemble peapods.

Growing conditions: medium water usage, sun-part shade. USDA growing zones 3-9. Attracts hummingbirds & butterflies. A re-seeding annual.

These are actually native plants here and they grow wild on my property. I've already picked out a few really nice ones to choose from and will not dig it up until the auction is over and it's time to mail. It will come fresh from the earth and well packaged for travel.
