Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) is sometimes called king's cure-all and common evening primrose. This north American native is an upright growing plant that is known to grow between 2 and 6 feet tall. Evening primrose produces cup-shaped yellow blossoms that posses a lemon fragrance. It is aptly named, since its flowers do not open until late evening and close before noon the following day. You can plant evening primrose from freshly gathered seeds in fall.
Sow 1/16" deep in full sun. Space 6-10" apart. They are a great spreader and require very little care. Save your seeds in the fall and you will have many to grow in other places.
