The listing, Antique Ve-Po-Ad Sliding Adding Device has ended.
Ve-Po-Ad is short for Vest Pocket Adder. This is a very old adding "machine" or calculator. It comes with a thin rounded tool that is used to slide the number columns to perform the mathematics.
There is a reference on the Smithsonian website along with multiple other museum and historical early 20th century sites. They are selling for around $50 to collectors. See photo #4 for old advertisement!
The VE-PO-AD (Vest Pocket Adder) was sold by Reliable Typewriter and Adding Machine Corporation of Chicago from around the 1920s through the 1940s.
