Description

The listing, Amazon Fire TV Stick - Used a Few Times has ended.

Used Amazon Fire Stick. Used a few times. Purchased in May of this year. It might be the first generation but it definitely does not have voice control.

I will reset it so you don't have to do that before setting it up. Considering this thing is so small, it is amazing. I basically used it to watch most of the Wire Series, and not much else, but it worked very well for that. I am now using a regular desktop and the open source Kodi Media Service instead.

Will come with the original adapter/charger and remote control:

Here is the listing from where it was purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GDQ0RMG/

Free shipping.

There is a build that you can install on fire stick or any other streaming box. You receive all TV channels, new movies, even netflix for free just using your internet so you dont have to pay for cable at all. Even live news.

Can you find the link? I tried Kodi on the Fire Stick. It's not much different than the Fire Stick itself. You can watch the channels from the major networks and such, but it is not as easy to use as a set top box. Switching channels is a lot easier on a set top box using a remote. That was my experience. Als when you watch a channel from the networks for the first time you have to go through a cumbersome task of logging onto the internet and proving you are a subscriber of Verizon, Cox or whatever...

Sure, but this is a lot better, especially if you already have an Amazon Prime account. If you do have a Prime account, then legally there's lots of legal popular movies you can watch for free.

Yeah, I did that too. It turns out I needed the power of a gamer level graphics card to use Kodi with Silicon Dust's HDHomerun set top box, which we have for getting cable channels, and of course you can only get real gamer level graphic card power with a desktop, which is what it I needed for some reason. I'm using a Radeon RX 460 card. Even the built in R3 graphics of my new AMD Athlon 5370 APU in the desktop was not powerful enough, without frequent buffering and pausing and stuttering, to see the cable channels.

RosieCents, I was trying to get out of renting a cable set top box for $19.95 a month, so I got a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun set top box and now only have to rent the cable card for $5 a month. However to get it working, I first tried a Raspberry Pi with Kodi and the HDHomeRun Add-On, then the Fire Stick with Kodi as you suggested, then the desktop with the built in R3 graphics and finally took a risk with the desktop using a Radeon RX 460 graphics card. Only the last solution worked.

RosieCents, that being said, I found the Fire Stick, Roku box and Kodi on the Raspberry Pi, interesting to explore and fool around with. The free TV series you can get through Amazon Prime seem great if you are into that, but I don't watch those series very much. Maybe streaming machines like the Fire Stick, Apple TV, Roku and Kodi are the wave of the future. However they are a little clumsy to use. Having a cable subscription, a cable set top box and remote are much easier to use in my estimation, and my set up now replicates that even though I'm using Kodi too.

It may be a generational thing. I'm 54, so maybe the older technology is what I'm more comfortable with.

Yup, Amazon Prime account for $99 a year, which also gives you lower prices and 2 days shipping on a lot of stuff from Amazon, although these days sometimes you can find better prices on some stuff on other places besides Amazon.
