The listing, MOUNTAIN GARLAND ( CLARKIA) 40+ SEEDS has ended.
Clarkia, a very delicate looking flower is very far from it. I have found they can survive drought and they are not picky about soil. Although godetia seedlings are still hard to find in some regions, it's easy to start them indoors or from seed outdoors. Will give you both planting instructions, but I don't start these early, just into the ground.
Start seeds indoors by planting six to eight weeks before your region's last frost date. Place your seeds on wet soil. Mist and cover with plastic wrap for faster germination. Mist daily until they sprout and then with out the plastic wrap, mist daily.
Start seeds outdoors two to four weeks before your region's last frost date by sprinkling godetia seeds directly on the ground, leaving them uncovered. Mark the area and keep it moist.
Plant established plants outdoors on or slightly before your last frost date. Space plants 4 to 10 inches apart. These can grow to 36" tall so the closeness of the plant is yours. If directley in the ground remove some of the plants to achieve the spacing you want.
Check regularly to see if plants are beginning to flop. If they do, support them by inserting a twiggy branch or two into the ground next to the plants.
Water as needed, but don't soak. Fertilize if you like once a month. These are hardy and you really would not have to. I use baking soda sprinkled around the plants. Safe for pets and children. It alsogives your soil a great ph for growing flowers. .
Pklant them in full sun or part shade. Germination is 7-14 days. These are considered an annual, but will resead in warmer climates a perennial. Seeds are easily saved so be sure to save for planting in other areas. Thanks for your intrest in my auction and please email with any questions.
