Description

The listing, WORLD WAR II V-MAIL FORM has ended.

Rare World War II V-Mail form used to write to servicemen overseas during the war. The forms would be photographed and film strip sent overseas where copies of the V-Mail letters would be printed and given to the serviceman in an effort to reduce amount on weight and material being shipped. One film strip could contain a hundred letters or more. Servicemen also used the form to write to family, friends, and sweethearts back home. (Note the poster is not part of auction I added it to illustrate part of the history of the form being auctioned.)
Questions & Comments
Original
The picture makes it appear the V-Mail has marks on it. It is in fact like new other than very slight age discoloring after nearly 70 years. Also WWII collectors may want to check out the Remember Pearl Harbor 50th anniversary trading card auctions I have listed under antiques-history.

Servicemen and women in US, Panama and some other locations would actually get the V-Mail form rather than a photocopy. The uniform size and weight made shipping and handling easier during the war.
