A very good role model . I tend to gravitate to performers who don't have to have a crazy gimmick to be popular. The voice and the family values is admirable. Gloria Estefan has been a longtime favorite of mine. And Adele a new favorite.

Thank you for listing this. I've loved this dynamic singer for years - and even more so when I found out she came from the town where my grandma lived. A true artist and a fine human being who's managed to sustain a balance between work and the heart of the home - and has managed to do so, with class, for years. <3

I've always liked Gloria Estefan and I'm a newer fan of Adele's music, too. Several other favorites, with incredible voices, are Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant (I didn't listen to her when she was with the band 10,000 Maniacs, but don't let that name be a deterrent; they were largely acoustic and one plays the mandolin beautifully - I first listened to them on the show "MTV Unplugged"), Bonnie Raitt (especially her earlier releases, her "perfect for the blues" voice and slide guitar, such as the songs "Angel from Montgomery", "I Ain't Blue"), Emmylou Harris (her earlier releases, like the song "Boulder to Birmingham" and a more recent duet cd/concert she did with Mark Knopfler, former lead singer/guitar player of the band Dire Straits are my most favorites, but anything she does is fine by me - and she has a dog rescue facility, too), Trisha Yearwood ("The Song Remembers When" still brings tears to my eyes, Faith Hill, etc. I don't care much for those who need a gimmick, either - it's the voice, the lyrics, and the music that capture my attention and keeps me there. As a "former" college librarian and as a published poet, the lyrics are essential, too - they have to be bright, original, intelligent and soulful. If their heart's not beating with the rhythm of the song, it's always noticeable.

You have great taste in music. True music is beautiful and sometimes profoundly so. Trisha Year woods " Not His Son" Is a fav of mine. I love Gary Puckets songs . These all give chills. Much of today's "music" is angry loud and a bit disturbing. I love many types of music from Charlotte Church to Santana. I could go on and on LOL
