What Is Jasper:
Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony occurring in all colors. It is sometimes impure, containing organic material and or mineral oxides such as iron oxide. Giving it interesting olors and patterns. When Jasper does not
exhibit interesting colors or patterns, it is known as Chert.

Biggs Picture Jasper is a stunning picture jasper. It is generally A dark brown Jasper containing wonderful swirls,bands, lines and arcs. These bands and lines come in colorsof light brown, yellow, tan, blue, or gray-brown.

Biggs jasper was discovered while constructing Interstate 84 through Sherman County. near Biggs, Oregon. The find is now covered by the freeway and this material is now scarce.

Biggs Jasper is a silicated volcanic ash. This jasper was formed by a volcanic ash flow, overlying the basalt formation during the Miocene Age.

You can tell the difference between African Queen Picture Jasper and Biggs Jasper....they both have their unique qualities. As much as I admire the other picture Jasper I have up for auction, I love the colors in this Biggs Jasper and the ornate copper bezel sets it off beautifully. If there are 25 comments on this pendant I will add a necklace that compliments the pendant to the winner. Sorry, the Hummel does not come with the pendant.

sorry,#1 because I'm not the 25th question, and #2 that the hummel doesn't come with it!! What a beautiful Piece this is did you say the setting is copper? they have started using that more lately I have some emerald earrings that have some copper it is very pretty.. I'm going to watch this one It intrigues me!

Hi legend michele. Well, I will probably add the necklace to the winner anyway, just because. And I only have about four hummels...my mother started collecting them when we lived in Germany in the late 40's and she is the one with the hummels. They have the old markings on them and the curio cabinet is full (guess how I got my hummels?) heheh. And yes, it is a solid copper setting. I had never thought of copper with emeralds...sounds intriguing. Thanks for coming by and chatting and bidding. You are welcome here anytime!

My Mother was born in germany DOB 1-5-39 we have very few hummels left. A lot broke when they came over her, and they were not then like they are now :( anyway yea copper is the new filler. I'm watching

I guess we have either been very lucky or good packers since they have been moved about 16 times since Germany...including to Japan. Uh, can you tell? Army Brat? I think the only one that has gotten damaged was when the housekeeper dropped it, so I would say that's a pretty good track record.
