Description

The listing, MAYAN CALENDAR IN STONE has ended.

World ending? Find out for yourself, if you can read it. This is a representation of the Mayan* calendar that allegedly foretells the 'end of days' to occur in 2012.
*OOPS! (See comment by Austinstar, below. If you have trouble getting to the 'hub' site (I did) go to http://goo.gl/4t6mJ ) It seems that this ISN'T the Mayan calendar but an AZTEK sun calendar. Shows you how much I know.
Whatever it is, this is an old ZAREBSKI molded wall sculpture, multi-color resembles turquoise and jade in a resin base. Impressed across the top edge is the name "ZAREBSKI".
It is 7 inches in diameter with a heavy wire loop embedded on the back for hanging on a wall.
A label on the felt backing identifies it as "Industrias Creativas S.A. Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico".
Item is in very good condition; no chips or cracks.
It weighs 1 pound 4 oz. so you can calculate the shipping costs to you from zip code 27006. Or it can be sent Priority mail, medium size box ($5.10 old rate). Your choice.

I must tell you that this is not the Mayan calendar stone. It is the Aztec Cosmos or the Aztec calendar stone. Cuernavaca is one of the central locations of the Aztecs. The Maya are much farther south - mostly in the Yucatan and Central America.
But still, a very nice item for those that are interested in Pre-Columbian history of the Americas.

Thank you very much for the information. I guess I was misinformed as I wouldn't know one from the other. I just bought it on a trip to Mexico because it was pretty and has been hanging on my wall for years. Again, thank you.

You are quite welcome. I write hubs on the Maya at http://austinstar.hubpages.com/_d7bzsu24z5pm/hub/Maya-2012-The-Mayan-days-of-the-week
If you are interested. I have posted a photo of the Mayan calendar wheel on the page so you could see what it looks like.
