does it have instructions with it? I got my son a guitar as he's wanted to learn it and he's always helping me out with special needs son, but wouldn't have a clue.

well, it has an outlet on the side that is labeled "in"

"Auto Tuning Procedure"
1. For electric instruments: Use a standar guitar cable to connect the output jack of an instrument to the input (IN) jack of the tuner.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It goes on to explain positioning for an acustic instrument (non-electric) as well.
