The listing, pdf pattern: sweetwrap wedding gown has ended.
i wrote this in a size 16 at the moment, but if that's not what you need you can give me your measurements and I'll write one up for you. This is a knitted wedding gown pattern for you to create. If you want me to make it I would have to charge for yarn, labor and shipping costs. The winner of the auction will receive a pdf file to the email of their choice, altered to their size if needed. thanks for bidding
let's see, you have to figure it out based on which yarn is used, how long it would take to make it, and how much it will probably weigh so you can ship it. For example, if you used caron simply soft yarn in this pattern as written, it was estimated that the cost of materials would be roughly 40-50 depending where they were from, not including cost of incidental items like cord if you didn't want it knitted as i-cord, and the hook and eye closure for the top of the corset. Then it would probably take about 50 man-hours or so, which means if you had it done by someone in the trade it would be a minimum of $100 for that because if you think about it that's only $2 an hour. I don't charge that much right now because I want to make one of these to photograph so I'd willingly do it for much less--say $40 or something. As far as shipping i don't know price because we don't yet know the weight, but given the fact i don't think we want any problems we ought to insure the dress, which is actually worth what the retail cost would be if i charged it, not the amount you pay (estimate on this one is probably $400 minimum if it was in a pro shop) so we gotta say roughly$100 before shipping? that's where I'd put it, just don't know the shipping variable, could be as much as $50 for all I know? Remember tho, this would be a one of a kind original, made specifically for you, so you'd be making a killing for less than $500 for that if it was made of regular fabric, let alone hand-knit--so there you have it ;)
i might like this better than the other if I won it I like the size4 tall my 18 year olds size you always have something new!! what knitting level would you put it at?? Thanks!!
this one would be intermediate mostly because of the sewing rather than the knitting level, however that would depend on if you did it in stockinette as written or if you chose to introduce a pattern stitch to liven up the skirt or what have you. Obviously since the top has the cross it doesn't need a pattern since it also gets folded several times. I can just send you my pattern as written to see and we can discuss it since you already have my info...i'll go ahead and do that for you...you go do the surgery yet?
thanks.... So I have another question then... So do you think $200 would be enough to make it and sent and everything?? I dont have the money right now but I think it would be so beautiful. And there would be one thing I would want to change is that I would want straps on it I dont do good with strapless lol. If I win this we can talk more I think but I would love to do business with you because I know my skills with knitting or crochetting is pretty low I dont think I could do it at all. But yeah if I win I'll keep in touch. I probably wont have the money until February.
i can do straps, but like i said i don't know what it will weigh yet or what they charge to send or all that. I know that the cost is less if you find less expensive yarn, but you don't want to sacrifice quality. What I told the gal who asked me to make this pattern was, go to the yarn store and have a look at worsted weights and see what you like, then we figure out who has it at the best price etc and if she wants to buy it and send it or if she wants to give me funds to get it with, but that we have to get the yarn at the same time to avoid having the problem of more than one dye lot not quite looking the same color because that looks really bad in a professional level garment, and you certainly don't want a wedding gown to look like amateur crap! So if you're really interested you can email me at yahoo...are we allowed to just put email here or do i have to do it another way? I'm on facebook as Robin Wirth with the same picture if we can't put it here?
so by the way, guys, i got a bunch of yarn at christmas i'm thinking of making one of these up in my size with it to take a picture of, at which point i'd also be able to weigh it (that's 40 full breast, 44 waist, 51 hips if anybody's curious, in other words have to alter bosoms....lol) I'll let you know if i do, probably by listing with a picture...lol
