This tomato was discovered by Gary Haley when he received a pack of seeds, grew them out & found this orange off type.

Gary, worked at a refrigeration business, that was in Amana Iowa. While working there, he came to know about a religious colony nearby, in the same town, called The Amana colony.

So, while searching for a name for the tomato, he chose the name Amana because of all the connections to the town of Amana,

He found the tomato to be genetically stable. It is an indeterminate plant, with medium sized, beefsteak looking, orange tomatoes.

If no 1 saved or shared any seed, varieties would die out. Plants make more seed, than 1 person would ever need.

The more seed savers, & sharers of heirloom / open pollinated seeds, the more diversity, fresh, local produce, & food security in the world.

These are grown veganically.

I start from seed, pot up, transplant, tend water, harvest, dice, deseed, cure the seeds, count them out, & package them all by myself.

It is a time consuming activity.

I don't just buy packets, and divvy them up.

I spend a LOT of time growing, tending and processing them, so u can have a chance at them. I think all that effort is worth 50 cents, much more really. :(
