You are not keeping it up you are testing it. And you have a wall or you wouldn't have an apartment. You should at minimum let us know if it works it does even have to be on a wall leave it in your hand or take it to another place to test it out. Come on...you can do that. If not then we all must assume that it is broken and will never work.

I'm 72 and can't hold it up high enough, also can't put nails in walls.
It makes chirping noise when I move the box. Was assured when I bought at estate sale that it worked. The owner died and they had to empty house. Are you just trying to keep others from bidding?
