According to Apple support...the original owner has to remove the icloud lock...or it can be unlocked via paid services available online. I bought this device on Ebay thinking a simple reset to default would work...it does not. Rather than go through the hassle of getting it unlocked, I opted to just offer it here on Listia....just to recover some of my initial investment. Ty

a friend gave me his ipad, after he lost his password; took me a week to break into it. and that was an ipad 3. takes great patience; if I had that many credits, I'd be bidding on this ipad..

shame; unfortunately, good ole' apple tightened up their security, and starting with iphone 4 and 4s, can't crack into their electronics, but ya can break into the ipad 3

I bought this device on Ebay...thinking I could easily reset it...once I realized the issue...I contacted the seller...he told me that he found it somewhere....listed it on Ebay. In truth he said it was icloud locked...but being a novice to ipad and icloud...I bought it . The person who sold it to me has no idea who the original owner could be...and Apple support will do nothing. Only the original owner can disable or bypass the icloud lock...or an ipad unlock service. Hope this helps clarify the issue. Ty

Yes I Do,...purchasing replacement parts can become quite pricey..once unlocked..it's good to go. It is what it is...an icloud locked ipad...being offered "as is" ...for parts or repair. Ty for the question.

Apple support will not unlock the device. There are services available online (Ebay...Amazon) that offer an apple device unlock service. People who are tech savvy may be able to figure out the process as well. Ty for the question

You are correct...Apple support will do nothing for anyone who is not the original owner of the device. I called Apple support to find out if the device was reported lost or stolen...they informed me the ipad has NOT been black listed or reported as stolen. Ty
