If you're older than 30 and you enjoyed playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, this game may be at the top of your list. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee really does import a lot of inspiration from SSBM, at least in terms of how the game is played and displayed, but it adds some really valuable elements of its own. For one, there are the faithful reproductions of Godzilla and 10 other monsters that were created by Toho Studios of Japan starting in the 1950s. Also, players can destroy buildings, or even pick them up and throw them at opponents. However, it's important to note that army tanks and helicopters will focus their attack (you don't expect them to stand by and watch you destroy their city, do you?) on the monster doing the most public damage. Players should use this to their advantage, directing the military's heat at their opponents. The bouts take place in eight real-world cities such as Seattle (yes!), San Francisco, and Tokyo, and, of course, other environments such as Monster Island. Godzilla can't match SSBM's frantic pace--these are gigantic monsters, and they move like it--but it's already a great four-player game, and more development time will only make it better. --Porter B.
