The listing, VIRGINIA STOCK ( MALCOMIA MARITIMA ) 40+ SEEDS has ended.
Virginia Stock is a sweet and tiny annual flowering plant that makes a great ground cover or low border plant. It grows to a maximum of 8” tall and is covered with lilac and white flowers. Virginia Stock grows in full to partial sun, and prefers dry to moist soil.
Virginia Stock produces beautiful flowers that are very fragrant, making this an ideal container or deck pot flower. The further you plant the seeds apart, the larger they grow. If you sow the seeds too closely, the plants will not grow to 8” tall but you can thin the seedlings before you transplant outdoors after last spring frost. Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your planting zone. If you choose to plant directley into the ground, wait until all danger of frost has past. Barley cover the seeds with soil. These are very tiny seeds so I mix with dry soil then scatter where I want them to be. Started inside or out, wet your soil first then plant your seeds. Barley cover. If started indoors cover with plastic wrap and check daily. Mist every other day until the seeds sprout and then only as neded.
Blooms April through August
Grows to a height of 4 to 8 inches
Plant seeds at a depth of 1/8 inch
Germination is 2 to 4 weeks
