Questions & Comments
Hi, . . Welcome to Listia. It's a great community of mostly nice & quite helpful people. I see you're wasting no time listing your first auctions (took me a week). . . Glad to be your first fan. Good luck.& a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year to you & yours. . . . . Joe . . . . joesbugs@yahoo.com
Never seen this kind of squash! what i know that when you buy credits on your home page it is usually but not always 150--$5.00 600 - $10.00 1800-$20.00
It's an Italian squash, but I've found out that my relatives aren't that crazy about it. I like to grow it cause it's easy and pretty to look at the big leaves. I found I can make stuffing with it and squash custard. As for the credits, maybe you can earn some by giving something away; or the rules said that they're 10 credits for a $1.00
Lulu, . . Sorry about the extreme communication delay. Computer problems. I'm still playing catch up. . . As Gloria noted, Listia charges the equivalent of anywhere from 1.11 cents to 3.33 cents per credit depending. I have seen one seller who appears to value them at 1 cent each from my extensive investigation of all of his past & present auctions & feedback (when he emailed a "heads up" that it would cost me $2.00 shipping if I won more than 1 of the 3 "free shipping" auctions I was bidding on. It appears that if someone wins 1 of his free ship auctions at a very low bid he does the same or never sends the item. . . Here's my personal take on it. . . I will never buy credits. I will earn them by listing my seeds. At Listia's prices the 667 bid on your seeds as I write this would cost from $7.41 to $22.23. I've seen "Get it Now" prices of 2,000 credits (minimum Listia $22.22) on packets of seeds that could be bought commercially for $3 to $5. I've won seeds for anywhere from 25 to to 336 credits. I've bid as much as 562 credits & lost & would have bid more but I didn't have 'em. People have won my Lambsquarter seeds for from 50 to 1,001 credits.
. . What I'm trying to point out is that it's all pretty subjective. From what I've seen in different comments & my own reactions to some of the listings, it varies with how unique the seeds are, how easily someone can get them in their particular area, how badly they want 'em, whether their grandfather grew them, how many credits they have available, etc., etc. . . Your seeds are kind of unique to me but I can't currently outbid BigMarkD. I hope you have more of them to list in the future. . . Looks to me from the bids that you are definitely doing the right thing. Suggestions: . . Search in the seed auctions under ending soonest & open some in a tab so you can refresh the page when it ends & check out the final bids. Also search under lowest price or highest price, list view, 100 per page & check out the first & last 1 or 2 pages to get an idea of what people are listing with no minimum bid or 100 credit minimum (keep in mind that some people are dreamers). . . Look for things that you have your own personal idea of their worth. Maybe even check out some other categories. After a bit you'll get a better idea of what YOU feel a credit is worth. . . Whew. Rather long but hope this helps.
. . In the words of the great Lieutenant Columbo, "just one more thing". . . Listia also awards credits intermittently for doing things on the site, 2 for commenting, 5 for leaving feedback, 5 or 10 for listing an auction, 5 for checking in (so it's a good idea to log out @ least once daily & log back in), 2 for bidding & various amounts for accomplishing the goals on your "My Listia" page & other special promos that show up in the banner at the top of the page if you have flash enabled. . . Check out the "Credit Activity" link on the left side of your page.
