CoinQuest Response

There is a wonderful web site, AboutFarthings, that will tell you all you ever need to know about farthings. Probably more!

Catalog values for Edward farthings start around $1 US dollars for worn specimens, increase to $3 in average circulated condition, and end high at $30 for coins that are completely and fully uncirculated. Use our Important Terminology link to understand what 'catalog' means.

The values above apply to all dates in this series of farthings, except dates 1904 and 1910, which are worth about twice as much.

My question is...why $3.00 shipping? It would only cost a regular stamp to ship this in an envelope. Done it myself...?

Three dollars covers the shipping, confirmation and the padded envelope that I will be using to send out the coin. I have had people ship coins to me in standard plain envelopes and the coins don't make it to me.

It's not a farthing, it's a penny. A farthing is 1/4 of a penny. Also, it is from the UK, and worth much, much less than the shipping fee.
