The listing, Vintage Postcard PHOTO IMPRESSIONS of the WESTERN FRONT France Elite Mountain Infantry WWI #4 has ended.
Up for bid is a vintage postcard. View is WWI, but not sure when card was produced.
Print shows the Chasseurs engaged in heavy fighting at the Hilsenfirst. The Chasseurs Alpins are the elite mountain infantry of the French Army, trained to operate in mountainous terrain.
In June 1915, the 6th coy. of the 7me Bataillon Chasseurs Alpins was engaged in heavy fighting at the Hilsenfirst. Running out of ammunition and having many losses the Chasseurs, shouting “Sidi-Brahim!”, were even forced to defend themselves, throwing rocks down the slope.
“Sidi-Brahim!” would forever stay the battle cry for the Chasseurs Alpins.
Card is in excellent unused condition, very slightly curved from storage and faint mark from paper clip, but not bad at all!
Please check my other auctions for three other postcards from this same lot.
