Questions & Comments
The author says it is from years of experience and his observations and interviews. I thought of moving there a few years ago. It lists cheaper islands to live on, how to commute and so much more. I was amazed at how different the culture is, even after living in the Florida Keys for 10 years and thinking WE were different. It was published in 2003. The economy has changed everything everywhere, but the tips and information was a good read.
HA! i think i need this book, i live in Hawai'i & it's just plain expensive! :p perhaps it know some secret that we don't :) btw, what year is this book from? ~aloha
sounds like it would be good for a glimpse into what the lifestyle is like here, but even then, it is hard to capture the aloha spirit & the melting pot of cultures that IS Hawai'i. it is really a unique place & expensive as it is, i don't ever want to move (it would prob cost too much to ship all my belongings overseas) :p haha ~aloha
The cost of living generally balances out. You also make much more in those areas. I paid $1200 per month for a single wide trailer in the Florida Keys and thought it was a good deal. I paid $1005 for a 3bdrm 2bath 2story house with pool and hot tub on North Las Vegas BLVD in 2008. Location, location, location.
